FAQ
How to reach Il Fontanaro from Rome?
Il Fontanaro is just 90 minutes from Rome Fiumicino Airport via the A1 motorway. We arrange private transfers from Rome, Florence, or Perugia airports. The nearest train station is Orvieto, only 15 minutes away.
Why choose Umbria over Tuscany?
Umbria offers the same rolling hills, historic towns, and world-class cuisine — but with fewer crowds, lower prices, and a more authentic experience.
Are the cooking classes suitable for beginners?
Absolutely. Our professional chef tailors every class to your skill level. Classes are intimate and cover handmade pasta, seasonal recipes, and olive oil tasting from our own groves.
Is Il Fontanaro suitable for remote work?
Every villa is equipped with high-speed fiber optic internet, dedicated workspaces, and complete privacy — ideal for workcations and digital nomads seeking inspiration.
What is the best time to visit?
Umbria is beautiful year-round. Spring and autumn offer the best weather. October and November are olive harvest season, the most immersive time to experience our heritage.

Fontanaro is not just an incedibly beautiful place but its a way of being and spending time and appreciating the beauty of nature that becomes a part of your soul- so much so that once you come here, you will always come back! A very good friend and I came here 10 years ago, and we were greeted by Alina Pinelli who not only offers the most amazing cooking classes but who I consider to be a concierge to the region! She knows everyone and everything that is going on in any village within an hours’ drive, and the best way to enjoy whatever that activity is. Whether its shopping, wine tasting, exploring history, sharing romantic moments with your partner or doing things your children will also love, she will find you what you are looking for or in some cases what you didnt know what you needed or were looking for. Since my first visit, I have returned with groups of friends, family, and most recently with a husband and toddler. Now I can say that Fontanaro is equally as amazing for children- there was nothing more heartwarming than watching my daughter chase lizards and butterflies, discover the textures of different flowers and plants, and pick fruit from the trees and run barefoot in the grass, eyes wide open with every new sensory discovery! And at the end of the day, after time spent swimming in the pool and reading in the hammock, we relax and watch sunset with a meal on the terrace in a comfortable villa with all the comforts you need to sleep well and wake up happy.Pubblicato su Google Jimmy Johan Bro ChristensenTrustindex verifica che la fonte originale della recensione sia Google. Amazing and insightful to learn how to make pasta in different ways. Our sweet instructor Alina told the history about how she and her family bought the estate and stated to farm olives to produce olive oil. My family and I really enjoyed ourselves in your and the other guest's company. I will definitely recommend this experience. We were a group of 9 family and friends who enjoyed our Cicerum house immensely. Everything was perfect, the house beautiful, our hosts incredibly helpful and we cannot praise Fontanaro enough. We highly recommend everything about Fontanaro and especially Cicerum where we stayed - but you have to experience the hospitality and amazing hosts yourself. Just do yourself and book this. We loved it so much. Thank you.Pubblicato su Google Georgia PTrustindex verifica che la fonte originale della recensione sia Google. chance to join a cooking class at this beautiful location, and it was truly one of the highlights of our trip. The setting was absolutely lovely, surrounded by nature and full of charm. We made several types of fresh pasta from scratch, including tagliatelle, ravioli, and lasagna, all guided step by step by a passionate and knowledgeable host. The most magical part? Picking fresh ingredients straight from the garden, it made the whole experience feel so authentic and special. It wasn’t just a cooking class; it was a taste of real Italian life, shared with kind people and lots of laughs. Highly recommended to anyone wanting to connect with local culture in the most delicious way possible!
